Location: Laws Chapel Road, Maryville, TN
In 2003, I moved into a mobile home that my parents bought and placed on their land located at Laws Chapel Road. It sits on 41 acres. I never gave paranormal activity a thought as being something that could and would happen to me.
A brief list of encounters follows:
1. New Year’s Eve 2003, there was a loud knocking type noise coming from my living room window. Now the window that it came from was at least 25 feet in the air since I live on a hill. No human could reach that window without help. I went around to my backyard to investigate. The yard was frosted over so I knew some evidence would be left behind. Well, there were footprints or any signs of disturbance in my yard. I never heard it again.
2. My cat often stares at something that I cannot see. She also seems to be playing with someone when I cannot see anything.
3. A friend had given me a Harley-Davidson shirt as a gift. I never took the tags off the shirt. I laid it on the back of my couch and never saw it again. At the time, I lived alone. I have been looking for that shirt for 6 years.
4. In 2006, my boyfriend (now husband) moved in with me. This is when it seemed to become worse. One night, I was sitting on my couch talking to Ryan (my husband) on the telephone. The front door was about 5 feet from the couch. As I am looking at my front door, the doorknob turns and it opens slowly. There was no one there. This very thing happened to Ryan about 2-3 days later!
5. Ryan was awoke early one morning by someone shaking him lightly by his shoulder. I was at work. When he opened his eyes, he was alone!
6. I was taking a shower one evening while Ryan watched TV. Our shower curtain was a clear curtain but had a slight frost tint. Therefore, you can see through it, but no details. I noticed that I was not alone but had not heard Ryan walk in the bathroom. The curtain was not pulled all the way to the wall so I had a small view of the wall just outside the tub. I saw a tall shadow (about 6+ feet) move across the wall as if someone was walking. Our bathroom was very tiny so there was no room for walking around. I quickly jerked the curtain back trying to catch what I thought was Ryan sneaking up on me. I was alone. I grabbed my towel and ran down the hall to find Ryan half-asleep in the couch. If he had ran back to the couch, I would heard him. I was overcome with a very uneasy feeling. I felt nervous. Something was “telling” me that the shadow I saw belonged to someone with a mean aura about them. I knew it was male. I have not seen him since.
7. I began hearing a female talking but could not understand her. Sometimes I would hear a male with her. I was up late one night because I could not sleep. What sounded like directly in my ear, a male voice said “Get Somewhere”. I did not feel threatened at all.
8. In December 2008, we purchased a new mobile home. Naturally, the old one was moved out and the new placed here. My cat still seems to see things I do not. She still plays with someone I cannot see. I started feeling anxious and uneasy in this home. Well, just in our bedroom. I refuse to get ready for work in our bathroom. When I would try, I would feel ill and become hot to the point of sweating. It was not hot in our house! I always felt like something was in there with me. It scared me. I could not sleep and when I did I always had a nightmare. Always the same nightmare, being held down by some unseen force in complete darkness. I would ask for the bright light to come and when it did, I awoke. My mother had found a Prayer Poem in an inspirational study Bible of hers that was about cleansing your home of evil and negativity. The story that went with it said the couple living in the home should read this prayer aloud while walking from one end of the home to the other. This was to be done three times in a row. My husband thought it was stupid and refused to do it, so I did it alone hoping it worked anyway. Then I placed the poem with one of our wedding pictures and clipped them together. By the next day, I noticed a change. Our home felt lighter. I know I did not “cure” my home of the presence, but simply created a barrier. I can feel it but it seems far away. My mother took a picture the next day of our home from the outside. The end of the home where our bedroom is located was surrounded by small light circular objects. They looked like orbs to me.
9. I lost two of my dogs within the last year and a half. I still hear my Bassett hound but not often. My Great Pyrenees is still roaming around my backyard. I have seen her.
These are just the few things I can remember at this time. I am about to begin researching this property. I have found out that in the 1800s there was a dirt road that ran through here.
